I'm new to scrapbooking, how do I start?
To start off, we suggest purchasing an acid-free, archival quality scrapbooking album and acid-free adhesive. (If you are on a budget, you could purchase a pack of album refills and save up to the buy the album later.) Most scrapbookers invest in a good trimmer at some point. We suggest a Carl or Provo Craft brand.
Purchase some decorative supplies. We suggest limiting yourself to a few sheets of coloured cardstock at first.

Organise your photos. A lot of people start with their most recent photos first and work backwards. Take out your last couple of photos packets and sort them chronologically into events (eg birthday, day at the park, Gold Coast holiday etc). It is not necessary to scrap every single photo you have taken (although some people like to) so choose the best photos and discard the rest. Sort your photos further into groups of 4-6 (per scrapbook page). If you have lots of photos of the one event, for example an around the world trip, you may like to do a themed album.

What is acid?
Acid is an extremely harmful product and can cause photos and other material to deteriorate, become brittle and eventually crumble. Acid material will slowly burn and yellow your photos.

What is acid free?
Products that are Acid-free have a PH level of 7.0 of higher. By having products in your albums that are acid free will lengthen the life of your albums. Scrapbook Mega Store's paper is all acid free.

What is Journaling?
Journaling is documenting about ones' photos and events relating to the photos By doing so you have a record of events for generations to enjoy and reminisce. Journaling can be either hand written, computerised, stenciled, stickered on and much more, it is up to you. Hidden journals are a great way of recording information without taking over ones' photos and page display. Alternatively the Flip Out Adhesive Strip which we sell allows you to add journaling to your page without taking over your photos.

What is Lignin Free?
Lignin is a naturally occurring substance that exists in wood pulp therefore paper. Over time the lignin causes photos to become brown, old newspapers are an example of this. Lignin-Free just means the lignin has been removed during the manufacturing process. All paper from Scrapbook Mega Store is acid and lignin free.

What does the term Photo-Safe mean?
A term that implies a product will not damage or accelerate the aging process of photos. Look for this when purchasing products and albums. All albums and accessories are photo safe at Scrapbook Mega Store.

What is Scrapbooking?
Scrapbooking is the organising of photographs and memorabilia of ones' life into creatively designed albums.

Why should I scrapbook?
Taking pictures and putting them in photo albums has been a tradition in many families ever since the camera was invented! The hobby that is now known as scrapbooking has taken that tradition, improved on it, and become a wildly popular pastime for both genders and all age groups.

More specifically, scrapbooking allows you to place your precious photographs in albums that are safe, and use them in ways that tell interesting stories about the lives of your family members. No longer will your photo albums be page after page of pictures without names and important details. With proper scrapbooking methods, your memories will be remembered for generations to come in an album that is fun, interesting, and enjoyable to view!

In addition to the reasons above, scrapbooking is a pleasurable hobby with a dual purpose! Not only does it provide enjoyment for the scrapbooker, but also for the entire family as they see their memories come alive again in scrapbook form!

Scrapbooking done correctly, will also keep photographs from deteriorating at the usual rate.
